I'm seeing a lot of complicated middleware files that seem like they might benefit from being able to call these functions in isolation. For example: https://github.com/openstatusHQ/openstatus/blob/167e83eebbfb55e0c5a3dd4d7cb131144b6321a7/apps/web/src/middleware.ts
