News filters: issue and suggestions #1490

Hi! I've fell in love with QuiteRSS after finally phasing out my use of my beloved FeedDemon. I'm glad to see that somebody has made such an impressive feed reader with the same features and a bit more, solving some of the annoyances that will never be addressed in the other, discontinued software.

But I'm here to report an issue, so let's go to the issue.

There's a set of news filters I used to rely heavily on. These filters check for the presence of one of a number of names in ANY of my feeds in ANY folder, and then add two labels if one of the names is found. Each filter checks for a number of different names -- there's no overlap between them. But one of the labels is always the same, and the other is particular to each filter.

Well, the issue is that if I ever add a new feed to my list, it won't be seen by any of the filters, and I'll need to manually edit each and every one of the filters in order to check that little box for the new feed. And this is not something a user would expect after clicking on "All feeds" when setting up the filter. I mean, "All feeds" means all feeds, right? Even selecting a particular folder should make the filter work on all feeds in that folder, no matter when they were added. I consider this a bug.

Now, the suggestions.

  1. Setting up these filters which have so much in common would be MUCH easier if we had a "Duplicate" button. In this way I could just change the relevant strings and one of the two labels and voilà! But there is no such button and I find myself doing a lot of repetitive work.

  2. "Match any condition" should be the default when setting up a new filter. It's much more usual than matching all conditions. But I may be wrong here.

  3. There's also a lot of clicking on the first column because QuiteRSS always offers me to search the title but I need to search the text of the news itself. Maybe default to "News" if that's the option I selected in the first dropdown? And variants.

That's all for now. Again, I'm loving this software!
