If smaller road or path goes through and/or near farmland, unmarked area (no area markings in OSM), or residential area the road becomes very hard to see to the eye.
this is not an issue if a path (for directions) is drawn on the road.

A different styling of either background color for the different area categories, or smaller roads and paths needs a border of some sort.
