Thanks @bagage to have raised this issue. You are right: the current results are disappointing. This is actually a known problem and we are working on several solutions to improve the results quality. For instance the PR https://github.com/CanalTP/mimirsbrunn/pull/308 is a first step to get more relevant suggestions. However we still need some weeks to release a better system.
Meanwhile you can probably get the "Decathlon" you are looking for by appending the name of its city as you can see below:
@jbgriesner This is good to know that there is some WIP done on search results! I'll watch this. For my personal use case I couldn't specify the city because I wanted to see what was the closest one (from my location) - thanks for the hint though.
Well we are also working on solutions to make your personal use case possible as soon as possible. I cannot tell you exactly when it will be online though, but this is also in progress ;)
Hi
I think it's not exactly the same mistake, but it's the best issue name.
When i search about a little village in Belgium (Harlue)
(I dont see "harlue" on osm data in Maharashtra)
If i add "belgique" -> "street of belgium" with a french city.
If i add the province (namur),
-> a very small airport (without harlue on osm data...) in this province
(the result Harlue on nominatim is the first https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search.php?q=Harlue&polygon_geojson=1&viewbox=)
So, i've check for other village in the area. Taviers, Boneffe, Branchon, Mehaigne, noville-sur-mehaigne don't work but Wasseiges it's ok
I've think of a bug for search place with "is_in" tag, but Courrière works
I have the same problem. I'am looking for a town in England "Rye" but even when adding "England" to the search or "Sussex", I never get a single valid result.
This happen a lot of time, Tried: "Bordeaux" / "Bordeaux, France" / 'Manchester" / "Manchester, England" None of this search worked out
Would be useful to be able to search for an administrative region and get a result with boundaries highlighted
Could you please clarify your issue more precisely in the title, thank you :)
This issue has been resolved. Now, you can look for "Decathlon - Nearby"
I was looking for "décathlon".
Qwant maps returned me one store:
It's neither the nearest, nor my country, and I would expect qwant to return a list of stores, not just a single one (choosen how?). As is, the search for POIs is almost unusable unfortunately.
