In frontpage, the JS code is setting the '#dj-image' markup and there's no cache, so the image is downloaded in each update. Sugestion:

Check if DJ on current update is the same as previous update before set the image (in JS)

Noted this a while ago and never got around to fixing it. It's every 10 seconds when the ajax update is called.
