What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Downloaded the apk
2.attempted to install
3.states the apk can not be installed due to a "parsing error"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected to install. Instead, did not and showed the "parsing error"

What version of the product are you using? On what ROM?
Using stock rooted 2.1 on the Motorola Milestone

Please provide any additional information below.
Have redownloaded many times to see if it is from corruption, but its not. It
states that "There was a problem parsing the package"

Attach a logcat output if possible.

What is the sha1 checksum of the downloaded apk?
It should be:
 SHA1 Checksum: 8633688b4cf232ac297faaf01511525bffe48850

Do you download it directly from your phone?
Have you tried downloading to the desktop and then install it from there?

I have this same issue. I downloaded it directly to my phone. When I get home
tonight I will try and download it to my computer and then transfer it my phone
as you suggested.

I am using a Samsung Captivate 2.1 stock OS.

I downloaded it on my PC and transferred it to my phone and it installed
perfectly.

here are the SHA1 checksums when I downloaded it from my PC and my Phone (ATT
Captivate).
PC SHA1: 8633688b4cf232ac297faaf01511525bffe48850
Phone SHA1: 39f6fb1ead64757afcb40d5c6da5cd5d2189b41b

Not sure why it is corrupting the file when downloading it from my phone.

This is a known issue in android since version 1.0
The problem happens mostly when downloading small files (a few KB) and it
somehow doesn't write the last few bits to the local disc...
