very very slow? #133

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. enter password
2. wait 1-3/4 mins (105+ secs)
3. WinAuth opens fine with 22 accounts

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
On another PC with only half a dozen accounts, WinAuth opens within a few secs
as I would expect.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I;\'m using version 3.0 on Thinkpad Carbon X1 Touch PCs running Windows 8.1 Pro
x64.

Please provide any additional information below.

Certainly doesn't sound right. Does it do the same if you copy the winauth.xml
file over to another PC? If you put it in the same folder as winauth.exe, it
should find that one and open it instead. Please backup the other winauth.xml
ust in case.

The only thing I can think of is it is syncing the time of the authenticators,
but this should only happen occasionally.

Do you have a password on winauth for when you open it?

If we can't resolve it, either you can send me your authenticator file so I can
try it or I'll send you a special version with some extra diagnostics in it to
find out where the time is going.

Hi. I think it best to send me the diagnostic file.

Thanks.

Yes, of course it takes the same time to open winauth.xml on the other PC.
The file on my PC is 682770054 Bytes, while the regular file on the other
PC is 1163269 Bytes.

On both PCs the file is password protected.

This is not a sudden occurrance. I have had such slow performance on my PC
for WinAuth for a long time, but I never thought to check the size of the
file.

Do you use custom icons?

If not, can you remove the protection (choose the Protect... menu item and set
it to no password) then open the file in notepad or anything that can read text
files. It should be fairly obviously what is taking up so much space. Can you
let me know or send me the file.
