Implement a countdown for participants to begin the speech test, but collect the baseline background audio for this short countdown.
e.g. 5,4,3,2,1 .. begin talking.... (this would need to inform the participant that a baseline recording process is happening).
Some other things discussed:
use a series of standardised sounds from the microphone to gauge audio characteristics of the local environment
put a counter for the length of time speech recording has progressed; perhaps this should also include an optional cutoff for the duration of the speech test?
make these changes optional so they can be selected in the protocol.
