Improves exception handling. If a runtime exception occurs while processing an upstream message, log and proceed instead of halting.
Now logs the messages to Rotating files based on time for persisting logs through restarts, downtimes, etc.
Logs debug level (and up) messages to file and error messages to separate files.

FUTURE work: Add an SMTP appender so as to send email alerts when an error occurs
