option of either 6 or 12 months duration rather than a single default - Having to calculate the value if only one default is possible risks of errors with manual entry

This was part of #38 which included a large number of seperate issues. Splitting it out to make it easier to manage

This is an option in 6, but doesn't seem to work in 7
