Missing Side Channel #13

Why is there no side channel outside of this large qualifying island?

Here's another example with lots of islands and incomplete side channels. In reality this is a ridiculous site and I don't think that it's reasonable that our tools should be able to lay out something this complicated. But there are indeed side channels without centelrines.

We calculate centerline by turning the islands from Right to Left bank one at a time then calculating new centerlines.

The system that we came up with works really well until you get the following scenario:

If there isn't a clear path through then we start seeing these weird scenarios.
