1 year ago If we define the new label in the Phaleron-AppOntology, it cannot be referenced in the restriction on the value specification class in the Phaleron-DentalInventory ontology extension.
@zarquon42b: Do we need to find an ontology-based solution or is it possible to add the additional option in the metaphactory control definition?

While transferring Phaleron osteological data from spreadsheets to AnthroGraph, some data items require checking back with the skeletal data because the data model has changed since the original data acquisition or because acquired data are not clear. This is the case with the measurement datum 'Presence of alveolar bone' in the dental inventory module which was added during implementation as RDFBones ontology extension. An entry for 'Presence of alveolar bone' is obligatory, to the effect that leaving it out prohibits saving of the entire section.
Describe the solution you'd like
In a meeting between the Phaleron Bioarchaeological Project and the RDFBones/AnthroGraph workgroup on 21 October 2022 it was decided to add a label 'Under evaluation' to the value specification of 'Presence of alveolar bone'. Selecting this option would still let data editors save the form section. At the same time, it is possible to run a query returning all cases that still require verification.
In another meeting on 08 November 2022, it was clarified that the 'Under evaluation' option is intended as a preliminary datum that is only used while investigations are still in progress. It should not appear in any completed data set.
Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative solution would be to make 'Presence of alveolar bone' an optional control so that the form section could be saved without entering data here. This option was rejected because it is a central measurement datum on which other modules rely. Also, the option 'Under evaluation' makes clear that someone is working on the case and it renders such cases findable in queries.
Additional context
As the additional label 'Under evaluation' should not appear in the final research data, it should not be defined in the Phaleron-DentalInventory but in the App Ontology.
