There are several scenarios in which a Jenkins installation can occur (disregarding the question of updating an existing Jenkins installation -- that will be a separate issue):
Jenkins installation for personal use
No slaves, builds run on master
One user account, no need for fine-grained permissions
Shared Jenkins installation
Potentially dedicated slaves
Maybe want matrix or pipeline plugin for multi-platform builds
Multiple user accounts, maybe matrix permissions
Docker cloud
More or less orthogonal to the above scenarios but still related to pre-configuring a Jenkins instance suitably. Should probably include slave templates.
