Quality of life updates (Usability) #98

Just some simple additions that would make setting up the game faster and less repetitive. Also some other menu features to help customize the user experience.

Side note: This list does combine/include some very similar ideas.

-Add presets for AI weapons

[Simple way to do this until full implementation is to just save last known settings]

-Add ability to disable weapons for the player or use the same restrictions as bots [Seen something similar posted by KeyboardStalker; seems like an interesting idea and could allow you to play around with different sets of workshop addons without having to uninstall them all. A good use scenario for this would be playing on a Star Wars map]

-Save player loadouts for quick selection

[Self Explanatory. Sometimes we have lazy days; and searching through a huge list of workshop mods, isn't something we want to do everyday; despite how much we enjoy the workshop]

-Hud options

[Allow for scale-able hud elements; as well as the ability to disable certain bits entirely. Bonus: allow ammo counter to only show magazines left; not asking to implement a mag system, it would simply just be cool to see how many full magazines I have left instead of my exact ammo]

-Ability to set Lives/Amount of respawns/Game mode customization

[Not super needed; but would be a nice addition. It would be cool to be able to set amount of lives per player. This could allow us to create last team standing or add a 3 life rule. Further gamemode customization would be nice to have as well]

Suggestions from Mason!

-Battalion mode end result options [Rather small change that would be a nice toggle. Essentially change if enemies stop respawning after victory or not.

-Map Rotation

[Fairly self explanatory. Allow us to create a map playlist instead of returning back to menu after the game has ended]

The following are a lot less essential, and a bit more complicated

-Allow for map makers to tag recommended weapons for a map on workshop

[The idea here would be the workshop page for a map could use Steam's "Required" addons feature to recommend weapons that fit the theme of the map and have it bind under a "Map maker's preset" to have it set weapons based on map] -OR- More simply; allow weapon presets to be bound to a map and have a toggle to disable or enable that feature.

-AI Tuner

[Menu to edit singular variables pertaining to AI's skill and other variables; I.E accuracy, health, maximum targeting range, reaction time. Could be interesting to give variables a range to pick a number randomly within a user-set limit.]

-Workshop weapon tuning

[Installed a workshop addon and you like everything about it except it could use some balancing here and there? Everyone likes their game to play a little bit differently and adding a menu to tweak simple variables like range, damage and fire rate for example; could breath new life into existing workshop mods that don't quite mesh well with other workshop mods. Allowing the user to take game balance and game flow into their own hands. There really isn't a way to make all mods balance well automatically; and trying to do so could eliminate certain play-styles and game flow that others enjoy; so adding this; while complicated to put together; can allow users to add a layer of polish where needed to however many mods they have installed.

-Search bar and manual weapon organizing in loadout menu. Adjust size of weapon icons.

[Finding a workshop weapon that has been just installed can be tough; and the weapon categories; while a good idea, simply don't work in practice since a minor typo or even just different spelling/syntax ruins the goal. The loadout menu could use some tweaks; if not a bit of a re-work for those with an unreasonable and insensible collection of workshop mods]

-HUD plugins

[Would it be possible to add additional Hud elements via the workshop? The Crosshair mod is rather wonderful and I'm sure the community could think of some cool elements to add to the HUD if given the ability to do so. Maybe for sake of keeping the game intact, allow these mods to be added upon approval? Giving access to mod the HUD could be a bit detrimental in some cases so for safety it might not be a good idea to allow any mod go wild upon upload]

-Background loader of workshop mods

[This one might not be possible and is rather me just throwing out a possible idea rather than something serious. My idea is basically have a small window open that loads all the workshop mods before launching the actual game. This allows the user to use their computer as normal until the game is actually ready to launch. Sure the time it takes to load is fairly minimal; but this little tweak would be a nice change of pace rather than looking at a loading bar each time the game boots up.
