Applicability of MAST to spatial transcriptomics analyses without single-cell resolution #166

Hello! I was wondering if you had thoughts on utilizing MAST when analyzing spatial transcriptomics data e.g. from the 10x Visium platform, where data are collected from ~55 micron spots that do not necessarily correspond to single-cells. I assume that MAST is still useful in these situations as we are still interested in both presence/absence and abundance simultaneously, but was hoping to get some direct insight considering that the data will be different in some ways. Thanks!
