Will rhel9 rpm be released? #72

hello @kotenok2000

We are looking at which package formats to support in the future. This may include RHEL as well, but no guarantees yet. For now, Centos7 and 8 are supported and we are looking at our next step as these will be discontinued in the near future.

Cheers,

Michel

Hi @michel-stam,

It has been 10 month, is there any update on this? We are currently in the process of migrating all our EL7 machines to EL9 and this is currently stopping me from migrating our software probes.

I tried rpmbuild with the current spec file on a redhat/ubi9:latest image and it builds just fine. Here is the patch for the spec file which I used to build it. atlasswprobe.spec.in.patch.txt

Best regards, Jack

Hi @TwirX

Sorry things are taking as long as they are. My colleague left earlier this year so I am forced to split my attention between the software probes, the hardware probes, bugs and supporting. I do what I can but the timeline is way off. Not ideal.

The update is that my development version has a working RPM package for Oracle EL9, as well as a package that is known to work on Debian 12. This includes a complete restructure of the probe to conform to the Linux FHS. This also needs to be ported to OpenWRT, which is required for the hardware probes.

I'm working with 2 people well-versed in the Debian and RedHat world to see if we can get both of these in the contrib / EPEL repositories, but this too, takes time.

The next step is testing, to ensure that no bugs were introduced. Only after this is it possible to release this version.

Hope this helps a bit

Regards,

Michel

I just found RHEL9-binary.en.md which works fine for me. Just moved my EL7 probes to EL9. So I think this can be closed.

Thank you. Best regards, Jack
