Do you have a template for a job post to find a tech lead? #314

Hiring a tech lead seems pretty hard. Since we don't already have a tech lead, the people with the power to hire a tech lead don't exactly know what to look for :-(

Here is a draft of an in-development job post.

Not necessarily a template, but the following questions are probably useful to think about/ answer before actually drafting the job posting:

  1. What is the primary purpose of the Technical Lead role within the organization?
  2. What department or team will the Technical Lead be responsible for leading?
  3. What are the key objectives and deliverables expected from the Technical Lead?
  4. What specific technical skills and knowledge are essential for this role?
  5. Are there any preferred programming languages, frameworks, or tools?
  6. What level of experience is required for the Technical Lead position?
  7. Are there any specific educational or certification requirements?
  8. What are the primary responsibilities and duties of the Technical Lead?
  9. Will the Technical Lead be involved in project management or coordination?
  10. Will the Technical Lead be responsible for mentoring or training team members?
  11. Are there any specific domains or industries the Technical Lead should have experience in?
  12. What collaboration and communication skills are essential for the role?
  13. Will the Technical Lead be involved in architectural design and decision-making?
  14. What level of involvement is expected in code reviews and quality assurance?
  15. Are there any specific leadership or management skills required for the role?
  16. Will the Technical Lead be responsible for recruiting and hiring new team members?
  17. What is the reporting structure for the Technical Lead position?
  18. Are there any budgetary or resource allocation responsibilities?
  19. What are the expectations for the Technical Lead's role in fostering a positive team culture?
  20. Are there any additional qualifications or qualities desired for the Technical Lead?
