Mounting boards #1

Would it be possible to add mounting holes with room for the head of the screws to the board? This would allow the boards to be attached securely to a robot.

Perhaps some clearance at edges of the circuit board would also allow the board to be mounted by clips or slots.

Hi, @LucidOne

We planned to apply what you said in the next version. It is expected to be applied in the next release.

Thank you for your attention and good feedback.

HI,

I would also like to mention that this is a very good idea and add this note: It is common to make mounting holes on a 1cm grid pattern. So that the boards can all be mounted on a universal grid. IE: the holes can be 2cm wide in one direction and 3cm wide in the other direction.

We have been using M3 bolts for all our mounting boards.

An example would be our RobotGeek Boards and workbenches: http://learn.robotgeek.com/rgle/44-rgc/270-basic-experimenter-s-kit-hardware-primer.html?kit=101#aboutworkbench

Cheers,

Matt

One other thought, please make sure there is clearance around the hole on the top of the board for the head of the screw and on the bottom for the standoff.

I don't have actual hardware at the moment, but grounding is often an issue with mobile robots. I would like to see one of the screw holes connected to the ground plane so it can be grounded to the chassis of the robot.

Thanks!
