Can't assign existing sld to uploaded shapefile layer

Uploaded a shapefile using geonode. I cannot assign an existing sld to the shapefile. I can upload an sld with the shapefile and use that but the workflow should also be the ability to assign an existing sld to the shapefile after upload.
