PAIN™ [NPUA80073] freezes between 3 and 20 minutes no matter what settings. #12996

Quick summary

PAIN seems to have this problem and reading forms it seems other people have the problem too but not enough people play the game long enough to run into it in their tests. It only happens if you actually try to play the game for an extended period of time.

PAIN seems to have this problem and reading forms it seems other people have the problem too, but it seems like not enough people play the game long enough to run into it in their tests. It only happens if you actually try to play the game for an extended period of time. -Restoring default settings doesn't help -Downgrading Nvidia drivers to 522.25 does not affect the problem positively. -Uploaded logs to the discord say settings "check out" fine but don't seem to capture the error?? -PKG is returning signature and checksum okay. -Uninstalling and reinstalling the game doesn't work. -The final patch for the game downloaded from PSN errors the hell out of RCPS3 and corrupts the game install forcing me to start over. -Setting the SPU size to Giga and enabling a bunch of bells and whistles in the advanced tab seems to make it last longer than any other changes to settings. -Changing the driver wakeup to 200, 400 or all the way to max doesn't seem to help or hurt it -Running the emulator with High processor priority doesn't seem to help or hurt the problem either. -Changing the internal and/or display resolution have no effect on the run time positively or negatively. I've run PAIN for 20+ minutes straight on 1080p x 650 for 8k before the crash, and one of the shortest play periods on default 720p settings lasted only around 30 seconds. Attached is the log from aforementioned 30 second play on default settings.

Please help I love this game and want to play it in eyeblistering 8k on my bigass TV for longer than 20 minutes at a time........

Hello, same here, about 15 minutes. It crashes before the end of the tutorial. Impossible to finish it. I use the disc version (BCES00548)> The problem is identical on my PC (Linux Manjaro) and on my Steam Deck (updated EmuDeck). Please, I love this game too!

Hey, So I have been playing the game too and the same problem occurs, around 1 to 2 minutes into the game it would freeze and lock, My error log shows the exact same symptoms as the Original Poster of this thread. it especially occurs in the "Abusement Park" level. Game is up to date at 7.60 and correctly updated with all the psn updates that came before, so it cannot be missing files or bad dumps, since I also check my dump of the game with the "PsnPkgCheck tool" and it came out perfectly fine.

Edit: Tested with default settings and custom settings, neither made any difference to the freezing

I suspect an error on the part of the emulation as it fails to load certain objects sometimes, as "Error, Couldn't Find Object" lines would pop up every now and again in the error logs. But of course I'm only speculating, with that said I'm no expert in this field, just trying to help as much as I can!

As I believe everything that could be used to fix the issue has already been provided above, I hope it will be sorted.

If we could have some help with this issue it would be stellar!

I have some good news, using version 6.2.0 of pain doesn't seem to cause any freezing or crashes. I am using Steam Deck EmuDeck Configs. As laggy as it is, there doesn't seem to be anything fatal with this version. RPCS3 Version 0.0.32-16523
