I came to the github page just to request this feature. This would be great, especially since trophies are already in the emulator. They just aren't publicly visible/shareable on your profile as far as I can tell. This would be a great networking opportunity for both teams to partner and potentially boost community participation on both platforms!
I want to add that this would open possibilities for 2 things:
1) Syncing trophies so people have a profile to show them off. Compared to option 2, this would be much less effort (I think?) and just a nice feature to have. 2) Embedding RetroAchievements the way they are embedded in many other emulators too so that not only games without trophies can also get achievement sets but also games can have multiple achievement sets, the "official" trophies and those created by the RA community. RA devs care a lot about achievement design, so especially since PS3 trophies are often not that well thought out, this could provide more complete and fair achievements.
Over the last years, RA stuff has brought achievements to multiple emulators (for example pcsx2, bizhawk, duckstation), so with that experience, it's fair to assume that cooperations with them work out well :)
This is more of a personal anecdote, butI also would like to point out how cool it is that with people making custom servers for various games, official platinum trophies that are unobtainable on original hardware due to servers being closed can be obtained on rpcs3 again. I definitely want to do that with Guitar Hero Live using the GHTV Reloaded servers. Now if I could then display this platinum on RA, that would be really awesome!
For whomever is interested, we have an integration guide for emulators here.
+1 on this one, I'd love support for RA because some PS3 games never got a list and this would be a way for me to get those games' platinums, so to speak
Just dropping in to add a +1 for Retro Achievements integration.
RA sets wouldn't be 1:1 with official sets so I highly doubt syncing previously earned trophies to RA would be a thing. Maybe some extra flair for people who platinum'd a game? I dunno. It hasn't been discussed in an official capacity at all.
I'd love to see PS3 support for RA one day, but I feel like it's going to be limited to daydreams for a while.
Though if someone were to implement rcheevos + RAIntegration into RPCS3, I'd definitely help test. 😏
Consicified explanation:
Assuming support from RetroAchievements' side (https://retroachievements.org/); have RPCS3 be able to synchronize one's earned trophies to RetroAchievements
Bonus:
Perhaps with an ability for users to also have custom trophies to earn, made by the RetroAchievements community
Following is the original post; though not really necessary
Please excuse if posts like this are not accepted here - I saw some other 'feature requests' so I thought it might be ok. Some or all might know of https://retroachievements.org/ Currently of course there's no support for PS3, so even if rpcs3 were to 'support' it somehow, there'd be nothing to do with it (so sorry if it's actually more a thing I should request towards the people behind RetroAchievements) The achievements they have that you can unlock from older games are also made by the community... which of course would be different in the case of the PS3, since the games already have Trophies - would just need them to sync with RetroAchievements... of course I do wonder if 'licensing' is an issue in that case... if the actual proper official Trophies for PS3 are copyrighted - and would require community-made achievements that are completely separate from the official Trophies? As to the why of this request... well, it's not important as a function... and of course RPCS3 already has the trophies supported... but it would just be a way to have all achievements/trophies collected in one place that the community would all agree to. Please do remove or ask me to remove this, if it doesn't belong - I certainly meant no harm or disrespect, I'm quite thrilled with rpcs3 as-is - it was just a thought that I had, this thing here. (Edit: Aside from realizing that it already would require a lot of coordination with the people of RetroAchievements - I also realize that I have absolutely no idea how RetroAchievements typically does things... so naturally I should also add that even if the post here itself is fine, the request is probably significantly more tricky to implement than I realize... so my request isn't meant either to be "add this please" D: *grovels* )
