Emulated Portal issues #9449

1. Trap Team expects Traptanium Portal Skylanders: Trap Team expects the Traptanium Portal, and does not work with other variants of the Portal (SA/Giants, SwapForce/Imaginators, and likely SuperChargers/second Imaginators portals). As such, trying to play Trap Team with the emulated Portal leads to getting stuck on the screen saying to use the Traptanium Portal instead of one of the older ones. SuperChargers also has different effects with older portals, as using an older Portal, putting no Skylanders on it, and pressing a certain button on the controller spawns an exclusive character and vehicle (Instant Spitfire and Instant Hot Streak). If implemented, it'd be best to be able to switch between all of the different Portal variants. Fixed by #10061 2. Support for multiple figures at once 8144 already mentions this, but each portal has 3 slots for normal figures, generally 2 for characters and one for magic items, and for the Traptanium and standard SuperChargers portal, an extra slot for traps. 3. Support for "Swap Force" characters Sorta linked to number 2, but I am unsure if the characters with swappable tops and bottoms use some sort of special protocol to load them through the portal (I haven't tried to use two sets of swappable characters at once).

  1. Imaginators character creation Figures originating from Imaginators have special "identifier" blocks of data that the games use to see if the figure is genuine. Dumps retain these blocks, and work fine, but the character creator does not have the ability to generate them, so created characters will get stuck in an infinite loop of repairing. Will either need to be reverse-engineered, but I haven't found information on how these blocks work anywhere, or someone needs to make a game patch to disable the check.

I can see there is academic interest in seeing the effects of different portals on different games, but for someone just wishing to play the games with minimum hassle, I suggest emulating the Traptanium Portal by default - it works with all the games with no issues.

hi i tried the emulated portal in skylanders imaginator and with other skylanders work perfectly but with the new ones of the imaginator series will gives an infinite error and ask to repair it but if you repair nothing appens and with skylanders supercharges everything works exept the special ones like Donkey Kong and bowser. is there some fix? ps. skylanders imaginator still don`t recognize but if you plug the real one it works

DK, Bowser, and their cars will not work because they are exclusive to Nintendo systems. Imaginators figures store extra identifier data that isn't on other figures and that hasn't been replicated yet in the character creator, but dumps and figures will work fine as you've said.

i see thanks. and for the new skylanders imaginator there is some fix? i have an infinite error po-up and when i say repair still nothing change.Because with the old ones in skylanders imaginators works only the new series gives the error to repair the toy. Btw if i can help with skylanders trap team i have the real traptanium portal. again sry to bother and thx again.

Having both the problem with the emulated portal being recognized as the wrong portal on trap team and the problem with the newest skylanders not working on skylanders imaginators via the emulated portal. Wondering if there's any fix for either of these problems currently? Literally going crazy from wanting to play through my childhood right now.

hi, i`m playing skylanders trap team with the recentrly new update of the portal of power, and i wanted to report that i am encountering some bugs, when i put in the emulated portal the Traptanium Crystal Traps, many times it gets stuck saying to put the skylander back as if it didn't see it and the trap doesn't work, but if I put the trap and then in the skylanders academy (the home where you upgrade the skylander) and then I go to put the monster I choose inside it works but still gives problems disconnecting the skylander and redoing the animation of when I put the skylanders. Probably is some fixed needed for the Traptanium Crystal Traps that have special interaction. thanks for the work you guys are doing.

hello I'm using skylanders imaginators and I would like to use the sensei but I can not and I do not know how to solve more I saw that using the emulator of the portal I do not even find the creation crystals can you help me?

Can't use Ignitor S1/S2, when putting in the emulated portal on Skylanders Giants tried on Skylanders Swap force and they work perfectly, when i tried in Giants the fire element icon keeps searching and then the game freezes and crashes the only Ignitor that works is the Legendary variant. hope you could help.

if you want you cantry using this program that i found. https://github.com/SigmaDolphin/SkylanderEditor/releases (is a free editor of skylanders) i used it to try change exp and money for one of my skylanders and saved as encrypted.sky file and worked on the emulator and the emulated skylander portal, so i think if you read the figure and save the .sky file of the skylanders it could propably work. but i dont know because i don`t know programs that read nfc figure like skylanders, and this was a simple way to try do something

If you have a dump can't you use the identifier in the dump in other sensei's that the creator in the emulator created?

Might as well add on since I don't think it's been mentioned here:

full Skylanders: Trap Team trap support still has yet to be implemented. In the dropdown list for the emulated portal, the only trap options available are the Kaos trap and Ultimate Kaos trap, however, they seem to not even be detected. When using dumped traps, the trapped bosses will constantly reload themselves, causing the emulated portal to swap in your trap, then swap in your skylander, then your trap, and the cycle continues. (This was mentioned by Kirizuky in their third response, but it's rather hard to understand) As of right now, the only way to play Trap Team with its main gimmick is with a physical portal and toys.

Edit: the traps ARE there in the list, however they're under their figure names, like weed wacker, not life trap. They still don't work correctly, though.

I just found a fix for it, just download the .zip files for the .sky files for imaginators and it should work. I made a YouTube video about it too, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nArV2DzPgS8

Hi, there, I just want to mention another related problem. I was trying to add the special versions of the senseis like the "jingle bell chompy mage" or "solar flare aurora" and they are not there or at least not as a pre maid file in the scrolldown list. Is there any way to add them?

thanks but i had it fixed for a while but now in trap team i put a trap on with sheep creep who wouldn’t trap correctly i had to do it through the villain vault but after that i put it on and sometimes after a few seconds it acts like i took my characters off and immediately put them back on but it’s annoying and it’s also weird because sheep creep trapped incorrectly while gulper trapped correctly but any tips will be appreciated

The emulated portal should have an option to expand the max number of active figures from 4 to 8 to match the physical portals from Swap Force onwards.
