Error Mitigation

As grand as error correction is, it is also a bit of a pipedream at the moment. The hardware simply needs to dramatically improve. But, we still have quantum computers coming about-so what shall we do? We shall do the best we can with our fancy math toolkit to reduce the distributional effect of these errors.

Methods:

• Readout Mitigation (PsuedoInverse matrix transformation)
• Clifford-Circuit Projection (Simulate an easy circuit, compare, and try to extrapolate effects on our hard to simulate circuit)
• ZNE (Zero-Noise Extrapolation, assuming more noise allows us to extrapolate to the zero noise case)
• Learned Error Mitigation (Run random circuits, try to learn distributional bias, and postprocess results based on this)

The goal here is to:

• Make a wiki page on each of these types, give a visualization if you can think of a cool way of displaying these
• Allow simulation through Qiskit using these methods
