Input only mode for inventory system connector #899

First of all amazing mod its definitely fun to learn and automate systems. I have a few suggestions:

The first is whilst interacting with the System connection pipe, I found that I often wanted it to an input/ output mode. The advantages of this are few but, do allow the user to create more complex systems. Such as independent subnetworks (although I'm sure this is already possible) that could have access to its stuff only, whilst a main network has access to the subnetwork. Another use is simpler railcraft connections (this is what I was mainly trying out) but, as you may already know item input/ output in railcraft is done by two separate blocks, which made this particular pipe difficult to set up properly, and at times seemed to bug out the mod. 2016-01-23_20 27 40 My setup can be seen above, the jist is two network connector pipes going into advanced item loaders and two chassis pipes with extractor modules attached to the advanced item unloaders.

My second suggestion is to allow the automatic crafting tables craft when all materials are present. I was trying to auto-condense cobblestone but, I couldn't work out a way to do it with the auto crafting tables within this mod (Without manually requesting).

Hopefully my suggestions and everything makes sense. But finally one question is there a way to have a supply pipe/ module craft the item your requesting? If not it would be nice to add that as a feature as well. Otherwise keep up the good work!

Independant Subnetworks are allready possible through the Firewall Pipe. Access restriction through this Pipe allows both Networks to only share Energy. Try fidleing a bit with it and you will figure out how to create Access restricted Subsystems with it.

Regarding Railcraft: LP was never designed to be used in conjunction with Minecarts or Railcraft! Inventory System Connection is bound to single Inventories, both Shared(Ender Chests) or Singular((Double-)Chests).

Regarding Logistics Crafting Tables: These are /NOT/ designed to work on any other trigger than a /DIRECT REQUEST/! You can though create a Condenser for Items with the use of a Supplier Pipe, requesting infinite Compressed Cobble. Firewall pipes will help you restrict access so the packaging/Unpackaging will not Loop each other!

Thankyou for the tips, I'll definitely try the firewall pipes out. With regards to the railcraft, logistic pipes does already work fairly nicely with it. Just takes a lot of fiddling around to get it working.

@1Jamster1 hmm.. this Railcraft system sounds good. Would you mind making a tutorial video about it?

1Jamster1 commented 8 years ago

@hron84 I'll try and make a tutorial video tonight (hopefully have it up tomorrow 10am AEST) if I can't make a video tutorial I'll make a post here and perhaps on the Minecraft forums. I'll post the link to whatever method I use when its live.

@hron84 Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldo7oYuYZWc. Apologies for the low quality of basically everything but, I think it suffices to explain how to do it.

@Bitterholz When I introduced the Inventory System Connector pipes I had exactly this in mind. A System connected with railcraft. Not only the EnderChests.

Crafting tables only work with crafting pipes because that's the way to ensure that there is power consumtion when crafting.

A Input only option for the Inventory system connector pipes probably isn't a bad idea. Will have too look if it's even reasonable possible.

You can already make an input only inventory system connector pipe with the buildcraft iron pipes.
