Instagram-Bridge failed to due deprecated IG API #1818

Closed potassium1338 closed 1 year ago

potassium1338 commented 4 years ago

My IG bridge returns since today the following message:

This endpoint is deprecated. Please read https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram/oembed to learn how to migrate your endpoint.

Is there any change that this get fixed somehow? Thank you in advance

I was also hit with this. Using the "direct_links" option should fix it for now.

This could be set as the default option.

But with direct-links the images cannot be viewed in the rss-feed reader, right? Because that is a critical feature (at least for me) in this use-case.

What I find strange is that some of the images still show up, some don't. I cannot see any system behind that effect so far. Any ideas?

So far, I haven't encountered any error messages in my Instagram feeds, but I am prepared to proactively change my feeds' URLs.

Could I ask, what does 'Use direct media links' mean? I changed one of my feeds' URLs to include direct_links=on but I don't notice any difference.

See #1291

From what I can tell, the direct link should work, but it has a expiry time. If the feed is not refreshed ASAP, those links might expire. The regular links should work forever, but Facebook deprecated that.

potassium1338 commented 4 years ago

I have tried that now for all of my feeds but the success rate is really bad. I would say maybe 5% of the rss entries appear whereas most of them seem broken.

What might be important to that is that I use nextcloud as feed-reader and the nextcloud news app to read them mobile. This might be a reason that the refreshing is not perfectly on time. Still, I'm looking for a solution without the directlink option. Any ideas?

Works for me using the direct link option. I included this so that it's the default.

With the combination of NC, NC News App and rss-bridge?

Thanks, will do! Seems very bulky at first glance.

Sorry, no. I'm using RSS Bridge, but as a feed reader I use miniflux.

Yeah, it's a node application.
