Sync Linkedin not populating despite name match with 1st connection #353

Joe added this contact, but he is my contact too, and I have synced. Even if this populates if Joe re-syncs, it should pull from any connected Redfly user it can.

This just in: Joe synced and still no luck. I also pasted in his Linkedin ID.

Alrighty, this means linkedin sync is broken.

sure looks that way. I was spooked because it's using his linkedin photo, but that comes from his interesting fullcontact data, which has the linkedin photo but not the linkedin ID: weird. can you confirm that the 'media lab' tag was added manually? that's the only one not from fullcontact

If it's helpful, Jon Scherr is another example. His name/email in Redfly matches his name/email on Linkedin.

sorry adam I discussed this with kwan but didn't bring you in: I believe this is related to 3rd party app security settings. It is actually possible for linkedin users to set the security options so that even if their page is publicly viewable, their data is unavailable to the api. we are getting -some- linkedin data by the api, but not as much as we hoped. (we're also not getting as many linkedin ids as we hoped from the fullcontact api) next step I think is scraping public pages

makes sense. will be interesting to see how well we can do with linkedin pub dir. + the guessing required...
