ENHANCEMENT: use Google Maps for the tiles? #907

Why not use Google Maps for the tiles? Students could dive into these maps to find out how to travel to the university, what entertainment venues exist near the university, etc.

Could possibly affect #620, #97, #231, #754.

For the record, I'm reading this issue as using Google Maps (or any other map API that would have the features that we would want). Or using more features or plugins or whatever for Leaflet...in any case, it seems like a few of these issues could possibly be resolved together.

@stevenbuccini Nobody's assigned to it, so as far as I know, it's up for grabs :smile:

I don't have much context for why things are currently set up the way they are, so I don't know just switching to Google Maps (or whatever) is actually the correct solution. Perhaps someone like @shawnbot can provide more context? (Or at least point to who really can give more context if necessary)
