Consider Removing Deprecated Code from Repository #323

Currently, we have five files labeled DEPRECATED in the repository. These files aren't being updated and just clutter the repository. Since we have version control with GitHub anyways, it seems like we could remove the files. We would always be able to recover them through version control.
