By 1) Installed I mean I extracted it via Ubunto to the Ext3 partition as
stated in 2. I never used the o2beta folder to create partitions or to install
Android. This would not work on my phone.
Configuration currently is: 8gb internal Memory FAT32 with 4gb SD CARD EXT3

I just tried the following scenarios:
- Storage set to Active Sync (phone only charging under Ubuntu obviously). Plug
Omnia to PC with Ubuntu running. Crash same dumpfile screen after boot attempt
- Storage set to Internal Storage on connection. Same thing, additionally it
froze Ubuntu on my PC and crashed it too.
- Storage set to SD. Same thing.
- Plug to original Samsung charger USB -> Crash to dumpfile screen

Hello
I had the same problem. The problem was than my instalation hasn't have the
same owners that the files of beta2.
Check the owners executing tar tvzf ext2.tar.gz. This owners have to be the
same in your instalation.
Sorry by my English..

I allways use tar zxvf ext2.tar.gz
With "zxvf" I never have ownership problems.
x = ..... The owner, modification time, and mode are restored (if possible);

Right so I was able to get one step further now with the help of granados
comments. I used sudo tar xzvf ext2.tar.gz and now Android at least doesn't
crash anymore BUT:
I get the message this message on screen:
"Process system is not responding" and can push "Force Close" or "Wait". In
both cases the screen turns black and the phone can't be reactivated anymore.
Any ideas what I have to do as next step or what might have gone wrong now
again?

Suggestion: Try to re-download the beta2 image from
http://87.229.73.80/beta2_1024.zip, unzip and untar the ext2 to your device.
(After you re-formatted the partition :P)
I remember I had this problem too in februari. I think my download was corrupt
then.

I just downloaded the image by erikcas provided. I then reformatted the 1024MB
partition to Ext2 on the 4GB SD. Under Ubuntu I extracted the newly downloaded
to the Ext2 partition, added updated 3D Drivers to correct subfolders and the
19.3. kernel update.
Now the Android stops at the "IPC Transfer" (cant recall exact wording) - the
last line before it should start - and reboots the phone to Windows Mobile.
This is starting to drive me insane...

Download 2d3d drivers from
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-ii-android-rom-discussion/322429/andro
id-on-omnia-ii-i8000-09-04-2011/# post #6.
Rename to o2b2update.tar.gz and copy to "My Storage". Run haret and I'm almost
100% shure you will boot into android fine.

I saw the message "Process system is not responding". I push "Wait" and all
work OK.
