Problem with UTF-8 charset #58

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Simply type any text in UTF-8 charset will produce strange chars. Default
font in PDF don't include international charset.

This issue is big problem for all people using non english charset, and
they will be very happy to see UTF-8 available in alivepdf soon.

Solution to implement in alivepdf
- implement addCustomFont function
- add native support to UTF-8 based on standard font (don't know if possible)

Hi,

This is my current focus for the next release. I would be happy having your
feedback
while I am adding new charset support in AlivePDF.

Are you from Poland ?
Can you provide me some text with characters you'd like to see ?
I need to do some tests.

I guess you would need those characters ?

best,

Thibault

Thanks for good job with alivepdf and ofcourse if you wish i could help you in
polish
chars and other test of these package.
We do some things in Flex and really need alivepdf (now we use FPDF) but as you
know
this require php server.

Polish chars... problems as far as I remember :)

Windows-1250 - i'm not familiar with this... it is from MS ! ;) (we use
Macbook Pro
and OSX)
More common standard for polish chars is ISO 8859-2 (old name Latin II)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8859-2
and of course UFT-8...

i'd attached some file from OpenOffice

best,
adamf

diacco: I had same problem with Czech language. Because of deadline, there was
no
time and space to choose a different approach to PDF generation. I decided for
little
bit nasty solution - all texts with diacritics were rendered as images using
Flex
Drawing API and then positioned into PDF page using X/Y coordinates. Yes, users
can
not select text, search for a text, but for my purposes it was enough
(Igenerated
presentation PDF, kind of a certificate).

Regards,
Martin

I'm new to ActiveFlex. Just wondering if the utf-8 support is added in the
latest version yet? any get-around to suggest? Thanks.
