Hello! Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I wondered if
there was someone out there to create a widget for websites/blogs that would
help someone create a site-specific Google Alert for certain queries.
For instance, I have a client with a website that reviews local plays in our
area (using Wordpress CMS). It would be great to have a widget that would
allow a visitor to submit a search query (perhaps an actor's name or theater's
name) into a form that would wizard-ize a Google Alert for them so that they
may be updated via email each time that query term appears in upcoming blog
posts. Sounds reasonably easy but I'm no programmer and I know it's important
for the query itself to be formed like: "John Doe" site:mywebsite.com -- and
ultimately I'd like for the "site:mywebsite.com" portion be added via a hidden
field so the user doesn't have to worry about it.
I've attached a mockup of what, ideally, I'd like to see. Though, some
additional dropdown menus might be necessary to choose the variables of the
Alert -- (although the source should be hidden too since this would be a
widget for blogs)
