20150521 : please do not merge this PR for two reasons :

  1. once again, i see errors i will be correcting.
  2. with the addition of the Sign up test in the next branch soon to be pushed, further changes have been made in codes covered by this errant and out of date PR. Thank You for closing this PR unmerged. Original message was : Your perusals are invited on these tests for merge to the master. 'spec/requests/sign_up_spec.rb' will be next up, in another branch with its own PR.
