Own theme. Is this even possible? #1680

Hi, I'm posting this as an issue since to my mind being able to restyle or create own theme is one of most important options. The documentation is quiet about this topic and from what I see, there has been such option (maybe some customizer) but it's no longer available and if this been a security issue I understand but anyway the option to apply own style would be great.

I don't understand what's wrong with webmail apps in this matter. Roundcube is hard as hell and Rainloop even does not mention styling or creating styles in documentation.

Being able to change the wallpaper is not customization mates :/

Hi @hikikomorime,

a very good idea. This function is commercial as you can see here: www.rainloop.net/purchase/

I think we are talking about something else. Commercial license have custom branding whatever that means. And this is one of my points. It's a great script but lack of documentation is just staggering. Considering I would bought the commercial license with thought I will be able to customize everything and I would end up with an option to change the logotype and put some cash in !important mode.

What I mean is an ability based on documentation to create fully and I mean fully custom themes. I don't want from the authors to make them for me, just provide some basic documentation for me and others to make it happen.

To my mind this could open new doors before rainloop. Just like many other scripts are free or partially free but the ability to make the website "your own" by custom made themes is a game changer.

Hello sweeties.. me again. Times go bye.. a full year and nothing.. literally nothing have change. Not even answer, reaction. To be honest i really don't understand you guys. The elements which allow people to customize are a pivot of success in a long run. Of course example will be Wordpress here. Simple blogging script allowing people to create themes and addon's. Look at it now. Simple blogging script? Yes but what you can create using free or commercially available tools is just unbelievable. You have created great script. Really. And now.. you believe that it will pay you back with just licensing of other than freely available version? Think again :/ I would love to make and gave away some themes, my friends could maybe write some plugins. Is there a way? Probably yes. Is there a documentation? Nope.

As you see no answer beside pretty much monologue with a pitch of rant. I'm a bit afraid that rainloop will be left considering updates and further development. Just look at how "lively" the git is :/ Rainloop is a great opportunity since there are virtually no webmail scripts available and well.. most of those which are out there are.. honestly.. shitty. I like you don't want anyone to do theme or plugins for me. With themes I should manage but some documentation, some hints. Right now I just know I can edit the core files but with any updates etc. they will nor go down the drain or will not be compatible so it's a solution but with very big red and blinking exclamation mark.

@hikikomorime I finally decided to go with Roundcube ... it has an option to develop my own skins and it had all the things that my client wanted ... It's sad but I actually liked what rainloop had to offer ... luck of Customization drove me away from it.

hikikomorime commented 5 years ago

@kabengwa I hear you mate. I will just repeat myself.. It's a great loss that authors seem not to give a damn. I still think that rainloop is a piece of art and should be among standards in a small world of webmail scripts like roundcube is.

The lack of open mind and maybe.. don't know.. greed for license money (correct me if I'm wrong).. will kill it faster than later.

Guys.. message for you. You would have a shitload of people ready to develop addons, themes and put you on the map (see wordpress). Right now.. no updates for some time now, no answer here.. not even answer.. I mean.. WTF. People, including me are appreciating your work so much. Help us to help you. That's all.. but to be hones I'm not expecting any reaction at this stage :/

Hi @hikikomorime , I also want to make a custom theme for the detail rainloop. It seems that not many guys create document how to theme rainloop. I am going to try investigating by myself and develop it.
