Support question about general ZIL dual mining #1943

I like to dual mine ETH+ZIL using Shardpool.io as proxy to Ethermine. I have created a custom pool ShardPoolEthZil for this, but I think it would be nice if RainbowMiner could select the ETH pool (or ETC pool) to dual mine with. I have seen about 5% more profit long term (6-9 months) than expected just based on Eth calculators.

That said, it would be even better to be able to dual mine ZIL with other algorithms besides Ethash. Zilliqa-Switcher looks promising.

Could you investigate how to support Zilliqa-Switcher in RainbowMiner? It seems like this would work with most mining algorithms to dual mine ZIL, not just with Ethash types. https://github.com/da-tai/Zilliqa-Switcher

I started a thread about ETH +ZIL dual mining in the Discussions section about an hour before you posted this: https://github.com/RainbowMiner/RainbowMiner/discussions/1941. I think there are probably quite a few RBM users who might be interested in this.

Hey @coolbreeze21 thanks for the info. That is quite a writeup! My pool is Shardpool + Ethermine. Last time I checked my ZIL rewards were about 5% of the ETH rewards. I am not sure how much of a loss I took in ETH fort that, but math says it is less than 5%. In my custom pool I set the profit factor to 1.05 to account for the extra ZIL income. That seemed to make RBM choose this pool over other Eth pools such as at Moneroocean.

I mined ETH + ZIL on Ethermine and Rustpool until the London hard fork and NFTs sent ETH gas prices on payouts to the moon. So, I got out of Ethermine and moved my ETH mining to 2Miners, which pays out in BTC for around 10 cents a payout, or in NANO for free.

I never trusted Ethermine’s Level 2 payout alternative, Polygon. I feel vindicated in this. Getting payouts out of Polygon was mind-numbingly complex or expensive. They have been hacked for millions, most recently last month. This month, one pathetic play-to-earn game, Sunflower Farm, caused Polygon’s gas prices to skyrocket and their transaction rate to grind to a crawl, erasing the purported benefits.

I posted my ETH +ZIL results in the discussion section because I really appreciate the responsiveness of the RBM dev, but felt this was something I could address myself and share with others, rather than asking him to address it in the Issues section.

You've inspired me to try another Eth pool. I also tried Polygon and dislike it.

The main reason I made the feature request is not to dual mine ETH+ZIL. We can add that functionality ourselves, as you say. It is to dual mine ANY_COIN+ZIL. I would like to not have to configure multiple custom pools (one per ANY_COIN) for that. Plus my understanding is that the profit calculation is based on WhatToMine for custom pools, so won't get much profit-switching benefit.
