Meta Editor will not start and Sigil siezes up #1166

1. Open any epub doc in Sigil, or even create a new one
2. click on Tools-Meta Editor
3. Nothing happens; Task Manager shows Sigil is running normally and expecting
input from user, but no windows appear.
4. Have to kill Sigil in Task Manager

Version is Sigil v.0.4.2
loaded Qt: 4.7.3
Build time: 2011.09.02 07:20:40 UTC

System is Windows 7 64-bit fully up to date

source not included as problem occurs even with blank new document.
The meta editor worked ok before, what has changed??

I am showing the same problem, now in 0.5.2. Try to open meta-editor and Sigil
locks up. Used to work fine.

OK, after much testing have, I think identified problem - which you have not
yet!
The meta editor hangs up Sigil if you try to invoke it when logged in as an
ordinary user.
If you start Sigil with Admin privileges, it works.
THIS IS A RUBBISH WAY TO IMPLEMENT THE EDITOR. You should not EVER have to use
admin/su privileges to use meta editor. I am not impressed!
It is clear to me that the so-called developers are likely alwasy logged in as
su/admin. THIS IS NOT GOOD PRACTICE.
Please fix this ASAP!

Then you have a problem with your system. This is not an issue with Sigil as it
does not require admin privileges to use the meta data editor.

Do it yourself this is a FREE application developed by volunteers as a hobby.
The source is available for you to touch, see, feel and work on. So why don't
you go and do the work yourself for an issue that cannot be reproduced by any
developer.

In summary, john@madi42.fsnet.co.uk go FUCK YOURSELF!

Hello Project Member John,

First I want to acknowledge... this is a great free program and I appreciate
all your efforts (and I did contribute some time ago).

Just want to input that I have this same problem (I did start a new ticket
#1277).

While I realize I can input manually into the content folder to yield the meta
tags, I loved that meta-editor screen - and I miss it! :)

I am most interested in what John said about logging in as admin. I was hunting
around the sigil menus and don't see this option on sigil. Can I do this from
my end as a user?

I have tried everything else I can think of. I'm on 0.5.3 now, with a windows
7, x64 system. I used earlier versions of sigil for some time now, and the
meta-editor always worked - until I think 0.5.0 version.

Again I appreciate your efforts!
