Crashes when importing images and other files #1240

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Please read http://code.google.com/p/sigil/wiki/ReportingIssues for
information about submitting a good bug report.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.right-click on images or text in book browser
2.click add existing files
3.select a file--seemingly anything except an html file
...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect importation of the selected file. Instead, Sigil crashes immediately

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
5.1 64 bit windows, downloaded Feb 5--also tried reloading 64bit Feb 6, and
tried 32 bit Feb 6--same problem

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, on HP Pavilion dv6 64 bit

Please provide any additional information below. If your source file
(SGF/EPUB/HTML/etc) is required to fully understand the problem, please
attach it to this issue. Read the ReportingIssues wiki page before
submitting!

This seems to have been previously reported as Issue 1129, and has been closed
as solved.

I tried importing into a freshly opened instance of Sigal, with no files
loaded, and had the same problem--also into an older file, into which I had
earlier imported many items, so it doesn't seem related to my file.

tried unsuccessfully to import several images in different formats, an epub
file and a txt file--same result. I WAS able to successfully import a html file.

Until yesterday, I was using a version from last summer, possibly 4.1, and
having no problems.

That's because it has been fixed. A version with the fix hasn't been released
yet.

I have the EXACT same issue. Windows 7 64 bit. Have been using Sigil older
versions, no problem. As soon as I downloaded 5.1, I CANNOT add any existing
images (jpg. bmp...etc) It has always worked until now. And, now I can't find
an older version to revert to. Loved this product but it's time to pay for one
that just works. The problem with 'free' stuff is that most people creating it
aren't qualified to. Check out the forums, I'm only one of many who are having
issues with this 'improved' release. Have a nice day!~
