0.5.1 cannot add JPEG image #1250

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open an ePub doc;
2. Go to Images and right-click "Add exisiting File...";
3. Sigil stops
...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
No issue in 0.5.0

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.5.1
