Merge does not work if you previously used split chapter #1251

Split a file
Try to Merge previous with the file

Two options for patching attached 

Option 1 - saves to disk after split
Option 2 - tries to do the well formed check against the loaded resource or the 
file as was done previously - but this now CORE DUMPs if you split, then select 
all entries to do a merge 

So it looks like option 1 at this point.

Also updates tooltip info, and removes unnecessary savetabcontents.
