Please read http://code.google.com/p/sigil/wiki/ReportingIssues for
information about submitting a good bug report.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Click Insert Image or go to Edit>Insert Image
2.Not able to "Browse" on computer and add an image
3.
...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In Sigil 4.2 you could browse for the image on the computer. in the update 4.9
you could only browse for images already in the Images folder. I would like
both options.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

5.2
OS Lion 10.7.2

Please provide any additional information below. If your source file
(SGF/EPUB/HTML/etc) is required to fully understand the problem, please

Edit->insert is only for inserting images already in the book into a section of
text. You need to do file->New->add existing to add a existing document on your
computer to the book.

the File > new > Add existing only adds the image to the images folder from the
computer. Is there a way to place an image from your computer and have the
image added to the Images folder?

ADD NOTE: I notice in my version of SIGIL 0.4.2 I am able to place my curser on
the page, browser for the image and have it placed on the page and added to the
images folder.

Versions 4.9 and 5.2 do not allow me to insert an image on the page form the
browser -- only from the Images folder.

This is by design and what you're experience in later versions is a bug fix. If
you switch to code view after inserting from your browser you will see that
only an image tag pointing to the image on the web was inserted. The image was
not downloaded and will not be saved as part of the book. So unless the viewer
you or someone else opens the book on is internet enabled and there is an
internet connection no image will display. You need to download the image, add
it to the images folder, then place it into the text.

I cannot insert from the browser -- period.

4.2 -- I an insert from the browser and it is added to the Images folder
automatically

4.9 -- I cannot insert from the browser and it is added to the Images folder

5.2 -- I cannot insert from the browser and it is added to the Images folder

In 4.9 and 5.2:

I have tried, File > New > Add Existing files to the Book view -- it adds it
only to the images folder

I have tried, File > New > Add Existing files to the Code view -- it adds it
only to the images folder

In 4.2

I click Insert Image in the Book view -- it adds it to the page AND to the
images folder

It also does not add the code to the page when I insert from the "browser" as
it does't insert anything -- sorry if I sound frustrated, but if this is
supposed to work it sure isn't on my version, which is the latest

On 5.2:
1. Use File -> New -> Add Existing (or right click on something in the Book
Browswer) to pick a file from your disk to add to your book. It will appear
in the Book Browser.
2. Click on the location in your book in either Book View or Code View where
you want the image
3. Use Edit-> Insert Image (or image icon) to select your image from the list
of images available from in your book
4. Be less frustrated :)

Just remember that you can only insert images into your text that are already
included in your book. Yes, its 2 steps (add image to book, insert image into
text) but it avoids a number of issues.

Ok, that is what I wanted to know. 2-step process. Can't just add on the page,
but can add to Images and THEN place on the page. so what 4.2 does is moot.

Thanks ( I was only frustrated because I thought I was going crazy there for a
moment.)
