clock freezes and letter grid is smaller since donut update

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.fix clock freeze
2.restore grid to bigger size
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Clock should continue to count down and grid should be bigger. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using latest version and donut operating system. Clock was malfunctioning on 
cupcake 
also.
