Hi Phil
It sounds like you've not set the permissions correctly for the folder. This is
not a bug. You should files in there regardless of the installed module, so if
they're not showing, then it certainly seems it's permissions at fault

ok thanks, i have now got said files in the folder and have changes permissions
on the vqmod folder and the vqmod/vqcache folders are writable (Tried both 755
or 777).
Also be sure index.php and admin/index.php are writable. yes they are and I've
visually checked both to confurm that the y have the code that is explained on
the http://code.google.com/p/vqmod/wiki/Install_OpenCart
page and they also are there.
but now i dont get the vqmod already installed, i know get:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to
complete your request.
"Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@......com and inform them
of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have
caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an
ErrorDocument to handle the request."
I'm imaging that this is still a permission issue but cant see where it's gone
wrong.
Please please advise me on the best course of action to remedy the problem.
Thanks
Phil

That sounds like a .htaccess issue. Remove any .htaccess files in the vqmod
folder and see if that fixes it
From your first post you said you were using windows 7 for this, in which case
777 and 755 would not be possible to set for the permission, or do you mean the
OS you are using is win7 32 ? It's the server operating system that is
requested really, should probably make that more obvious I guess

Sorry yes your right thats my os not the servers which makes perfect sense now
you've mentioned it, I have now deleted the htaccess file and the
http://mysite/vqmod pops up as server file list which is great, but still
getting the Internal Server Error when going to the install directory. Do the
files inside that directory also need permission changes?

Make sure the files in the install folder have read and execute permissions.
Try 775 and 777 on it to see if it works (although you already said it's been
installed so there's really no need to do anything more if your cache files are
being created)

sorry so as long as the files are there and they have read & execute
permissions then i dont need the successful install message and its installed
ready for the mod i wanted. (Restrict By Customer Group (OpenCart Addon)
If so then i thank you for your help, you've been great.
Kind regards
Phil

Yeah, you've already got it installed, so no need to use that url again. If
you've had the successful install message once, that's all you need. For the
module, you'll need to contact the developer if it's not working properly

every thing seams there but i didn't get a successful install message. and I'm
the actual developer for this site so that option is out, lol.
But i believe that its sorted so I'm installing the VQ MOD manager and I'll go
from there so thanks again for you help this afternoon.

same issue but nothing that you've mentioned works, changed all the permissions
between 755 to 777 a million times, tried manual install, deleted the .htaccess
and went from seeing the ""Please contact the server administrator,
webmaster@......" error to now seeing everything in directories but I still
can't install it and no files in the vqcache folder :(
I seriously need some assistance I've been at this all night
Thank you

As previously mentioned, this isn't a vqmod issue. You need to contact your
system administrator to find out the exact permissions for the folder.
Generally the permissions on this folder should be the same as the
/system/cache/ folder in opencart (775 perhaps?)

I have same experience. It is related to permissions for the folder in server.
What I do are:
- Install php server (xampp) on my laptop
- Install opencart on it
- Install vqmod on it
- Running some vqmod extension.
- Copy file from vqcache folder, and upload it to the server, replace the old
file (back-up the file first).
That's what i Do.

I have the same problem. Everythging was ok on WAMP, but when I moved project
to the server (based on NGINX) it stopped to work. No files are generated in
the vqcache folder.
I run these commands:
chown www-data:www-data -R .
chmod 777 -R .
(set 777 was just for test of course :) )
Even with hull permissions and right owner set it didnt work. Everything else
works fine, I can upload images etc
Any ideas?
