6.1.2 on MacOS does not display feeds in the iCloud root folder #3951

Hello,

I bumped into a weird issue today, perhaps is it related to iCloud syncing?

I only use iCloud to sync between my phone and Mac, no other accounts (not even local). There are ~2 dozens of feeds, most of them in 6 folders. I also keep 7 feeds in the "root directory", outside of these folders.

These 7 feeds in the root are visible on iOS, but they do not show up in the Mac version at all. Obviously, there is no unread count, either.

Tests I tried:

  1. I quit the program and removed all files/dirs under ~/Library which was named NetNewsWire ( find ~/Library -iname "netnewswire" ). Then started it again and re-added the iCloud account. The missing fields still did not show up
  2. I added a feed on the Mac to the iCloud account's root directory. It works as expected, but have not (yet) showed up in the iOS client.

Has anyone else experienced this behaviour, too?

And the newly added feed on the desktop still does not show up on iOS. As if iCloud syncing had problems in both directions.

I found a workaround: exporting the feeds in OPML on iOS and importing them on MacOS makes the "missing" feeds reappear.

This started two days ago for me, too. 6.12 and Ventura 13.3.1. On my mac feed not visible either and neither heading is selectable. It happened when I hit a wrong keyboard shortcut (not sure what, sorry).

Smart feeds still work.

Is it possible that you’ve collapsed both sections?

If you hover over On my Mac, for instance, you should see an arrow near the right side of that view, which lets you expand and collapse the section.

Ah, thanks for reminding me... The arrow appears on hover over both sets of feeds, however the locations stay greyed out and unresponsive.

Quick screen grab shows the issue.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

Just figured it out..."Show Read Feeds" 🤯

tyuxar commented 1 year ago

Good for you, I was using NNN with show read feeds turned on, yet it did not work.

I'm seeing the same issue. I have it configured to show read feeds, but I only see 2 feeds at the root level of my iCloud feeds — both were added on the Mac, and both have not synchronized back to my iOS feeds either.
