Crashes When Opening AVI File From Sony Vegas #792

Open UnitedDugout27 opened 3 years ago

I opened the video file in the latest version of handbrake 1.3.3 (2020061300) and this issue does not happen. Only in vidcoder.

I have noticed that anything past version 6.16 will crash when trying to open a "AVI (video for windows) NTSC DV" file that was created by Sony Vegas.

Vidcoder will hang on the "Scanning" dialog box and a force close from task manager is the only way to close it.

I wouldn't expect it to crash in HandBrake stable, since you said it only started in v6 Beta for VidCoder. Try it with the Nightly version of HandBrake.

UnitedDugout27 commented 3 years ago

just tried it with Nightly 20210312190521-48617ff44-master (2021031201) and no issue with that either.

Can you encode a short clip that causes the issue and share it?

UnitedDugout27 commented 3 years ago

I tried doing that, turns out that not every file rendered in that format makes vidcoder crash, only sometimes... I will keep trying to produce a file that crashes it, and share it here once I do. The particular file in question only crashed vidcoder versions past 616

Let me know, and also try the latest VidCoder Beta as it has a somewhat up to date nightly build. It's extremely rare that a source loading issue is not shared by HandBrake, since we use the same DLL to do that work.
