Cloud Atlas - An independent, community-owned Google Earth, free from centralized servers and overpowered entities, owned solely by you and the public!

No backend! Syncs via public tracker networks. Now BitTorrent, with fallback to Nostr coming soon...

Hi Rangermauve,

I’ve been following your work with great interest. Your vision for a user-empowered web aligns closely with the ethos of Cloud Atlas - our independent, community-owned virtual globe. It’s a platform free from centralized control, where privacy and user agency are paramount.

Cloud Atlas is not just another digital map; it’s a canvas for the community’s creativity, unshackled by backends and overpowered entities. It syncs seamlessly via public tracker networks, currently leveraging BitTorrent, with plans to integrate Nostr in the near future.

As you’re deeply involved in creating a local-first cyberspace stack, I thought you might be intrigued by the feature that transforms all community creations into immersive VR experiences at the click of a button, without the developers are having to mind it. (bottom right on desktop) This could be a significant step towards realizing your decentralization, local-first, and VR dreams you’ve spoken of.

Cloud Atlas is a public domain, akin to Google Earth, yet it’s owned by you and the public. It’s a space where your ideas and concepts, and maybe even the Agregore browser, could potentially open new dimensions of decentralization, local-first and independent open-source VR. As one of the first adopters, you could pioneer its use in ways we’ve yet to imagine.

Envision being the pioneer to whom Google gave the first golden ticket in 2001, granting early access to go freaky at their Google Earth service. (You are the first person that came to my mind when i started with writing invitations today)

Would you be interested in exploring this further and perhaps integrating your work with our platform? I believe it could be a mutually beneficial collaboration, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in decentralized web technology. Plus, whatever you build for Cloud Atlas is there for everyone to use. But thats kind of the point of a Collective Computer. haha

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Best regards,

Bo

Hey Bo! Thank you for reaching out. THis is absolutely something I'd be interested in working on. :) Decentralized spatial indexing is something I've been looking into for years.

I'm saturated this month but my team at Hypha should have more time later in the fall. If you'd like to collaborate feel free to send an email to hello@hypha.coop so we can figure out projeject budget and scope.

Here's some more info about what my team specializes on. https://hypha.coop/co-creation-lab/

Hi. Project budget and scope for what exactly?
