what do large snakes eat??? #169

this is not really a bug, but more of a question, and i haven't gotten a response on curseforge. google and youtube also have NO solutions. i've tried putting chickens and pigs in front of them, they're at 79% hunger. they won't eat anything. at some point they're going to starve because they won't eat anything. can somebody help me identify what a medium-sized prey item is, what large snakes eat, and why mine aren't eating?

Hunger doesn't work that way, a mob will never take damage from being at zero hunger, it's just a threshold for certain behaviors (most notably, hunting). In the case of Large Snakes, they won't hunt until their hunger gets lower than 30

They should eat pretty much anything, Pigs, Cows, Chickens and any mob lower on the food chain (pretty much any passive animal with less than 20 Hearts), but unlike most animals (limited to hunting 2 times every day), Large Snakes will go dormant for much longer after having eaten

Also, for some reason, they've been in the world with me in their chunks for multiple hours... yet they don't lose hunger. Is this a glitch or is it supposed to happen? Also, yes, they are moving around quite a bit. Also, bears will ignore chickens and other animals around them- I watched one be at literally 2 hunger points and not eat ANYTHING.
