One of the other things that changed in recent years is that, for better or worse, CRAN pretends that #!/bin/bash is not standard enough. So we get two NOTEs.
I wasn't quite sure how much work it would be for configure so I just gave it a quick spin, and it is easy. So I could make another PR with another small piece of polish, but nothing earth-shattering.
