Hey I'm interested in contributing to this project. Any words on the status of this project?

Since it seems like there is an unofficial rewrite over here that hasn't been merged back into this repo.

If anyone is interested, I've been maintaining my own fork of this repo here, continuing s3bk's fork. I've fixed a number of issues mentioned here and others and added (experimental) support for some features, like custom commands or \text.
