I understand that Instagram's Reels feature is intended to offer a new way for users to express themselves creatively and engage with others through short-form videos. However, I personally feel that the feature overlaps too much with Instagram's original purpose of connecting people through messaging and sharing content with friends and family. It's possible that this shift towards video-based content could be alienating for some users who preferred the simplicity of Instagram's original focus.
Patch
The patch, when applied, would:
Disable scrolling when clicking on a reel
Either hide all reels on the feed OR/AND let the user choose a percentage of diminution of the reels ratio
Remove reels from the discovery tab
It wouldn't remove reels from stories tho.
Motivation
I know way too much people who succeeded uninstalling tiktok but are now suite heavily addicted on Insta reels, and that's quite sad...
I think this patch is really important and could save mental health and time for so many users as this new trend of infinite scrollable and non choosable short content is clearly a treat for so many of us.
