so I thought my machine was locked, but it wasn't. I started typing the password, and apparently if you are on the "Issues" page of a repo, "c" will create a new issue. By the time that page had loaded, I was on to the last few characters of the password, followed by a return..... hence this issue. (I have also changed the password to my machine, just in case you were wondering...)
