Hmm, ideally we'd have some kind of delayed fall trigger, so that it doesn't look like starting the jump kills the marine. I was working on a prototype of something like that the other day, but haven't had a chance to test or fine-tune it yet.
Getting sparta'd by a shieldbug at the big final road may throw the marine high enough to reach the kill area made for marines jumping off the broken bridge at the beginning.
